Protect Our Species

Earth Day 2019

Earth is experiencing an unprecedented rate of species extinction – the highest since we lost the dinosaurs 60 million years ago. April 22 is Earth Day, and this year’s theme is “Protect Our Species.”

Imagine a future where we all work together to protect our planet. At Dow, we believe that when passionate people across businesses, government and society join in true partnerships to find answers for a more sustainable future, anything is possible. Led by our 2025 Sustainability Goals, we are collaborating across the globe to use our science to find answers.

We ask you to join us on Earth Day, and every day, to protect our planet.

Pulling Our Weight

Together, we can make a difference. Last year, our employees were challenged to pick up at least 4 pounds of waste. In a matter of a few months, we’ve removed 54,000 pounds of trash from beaches and waterways – and we’re just getting started.

Stemming the Tide

At least 267 species are impacted by ocean waste, including 86% of sea turtle species, 44% of seabird species and 43% of marine mammal species. See how Dow is collaborating to help stem the tide of plastic waste.

Green Means Cleaner

Green infrastructure supports biodiversity and improves water and air quality. Find out how Dow is using nature-based solutions at its sites to bring value to our business and the environment.

Combatting Climate Change

How can sports and science impact climate change? Dow’s partnership with the International Olympic Committee shows how collaboration and innovation can help communities globally make the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Inspiring Sustainability Leaders

Learn out how Dow is working with WE to help build the next generation of sustainability leaders by challenging students to use science to solve global and local challenges.

Protecting and Preserving Nature

Most people don’t think manufacturing and nature go together. Yet six Dow sites are certified by the Wildlife Habitat Council’s Corporate Wildlife Habitat Certification Program. Find out how even protected species are at home at Dow sites.

Our Planet, Our Responsibility

Mangroves are the biological buffers between land and sea. A lot of the fish that feed the world inhabit mangroves at some point of their life. See why Dow is helping protect these sensitive ecosystems.

Earth Day Is Every Day

Reducing and Reusing in the Built Environment

Building a more sustainable world means being intentional about design – how we manufacture what we build and how the things we build will be maintained, modernized, reused and recycled.
