MIDLAND, Mich. – Nov. 12, 2025 – Today, Dow (NYSE: DOW) announced the expansion of its existing Military Degree Equivalency (MDE) program for veterans with relevant military experience of E5 ranking or greater (expanded from E6) as equivalent to a bachelor’s degree for U.S. job postings. Dow will also continue to acknowledge PO2/Sgt enlisted ranking equivalence for Canadian job postings. The E5 ranking translates to six to 12 years of experience and has generally equivalent responsibilities across all branches of the military. The expansion builds upon Dow’s industry leading efforts to continue leveling the playing field for veterans with relevant experience seeking rewarding careers.
"Veterans bring a wealth of leadership, adaptability, and technical expertise that align perfectly with Dow’s values and business needs," said Lauren James, Dow’s senior vice president of Corporate Development and executive sponsor of Dow’s employee resource group for veterans. "Expanding the Military Degree Equivalency program reinforces our commitment to creating pathways for talented service members to thrive at Dow, while strengthening our workforce with diverse experiences and perspectives."
Dow’s MDE Program was launched in 2020 and allowed veterans who had achieved the E6 enlisted ranking the opportunity to bring their military training and education, leadership experience and ability to perform in high pressure situations into successful leadership positions at Dow where previously bachelor’s degrees are required.
Since the launch of the MDE program in 2020, Dow was also awarded Gold-Level Veteran-Friendly Employer status from the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA). The prestigious Gold-Level designation has been granted to just over four percent of the more than 570 veteran-friendly employers across the state.
