Lauren James is senior vice president of corporate development for Dow, a global materials science company with 2024 sales of approximately $43 billion. In this role, she leads all corporate development matters, including engagement with the Board of Directors, and is responsible for guiding development of the Company’s key strategies and positioning Dow for long-term growth and value creation. She also owns the Company’s Enterprise Risk Management and JV governance activities.
James is a member of the Company’s Executive Committee, which sets strategic directions, defines priorities and establishes corporate policies for the enterprise. She is also the executive sponsor of VetNet, Dow’s employee resource group for veterans, that focuses on attracting, retaining, and mentoring active service members as well as military veterans.
Prior to her current role, James was the vice president for strategic planning & strategy development, where she led Dow’s corporate strategic planning and business analysis function.
James joined Dow in 2002, and has held a variety of leadership and strategy development roles spanning commercial, finance, corporate development, and IT. Her extensive experience includes global business leadership of a multi-billion-dollar specialties portfolio in the Industrial Solutions business, as well as strategic roles in treasury, investor relations, corporate planning, financial reporting, and mergers & acquisitions.
Over the past decade, James supported several key strategic portfolio moves, including the transactions with Olin, Dow Corning, and the Dow/DuPont merger and spin-off. Her experience at Dow also includes three years in Shanghai, China, where she drove the Company’s growth across the Asia Pacific region.
James sits on the Board of Directors for Diamond Infrastructure Solutions, and also serves on the commission of MBS International Airport. She holds an executive MBA from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Central Michigan University.
