Technology’s role in developing sustainable plastics

Plastic bottles don’t have to end up in landfills. Suntory’s Flake-to-Preform (FtoP) Direct Recycle Technology creates new PET bottles from used PET bottles, minimizing the impact on the environment and contributing to the circular economy.

Jeff Wooster, Global Sustainability Director at Dow, chatted with Yuko Koshiishi, Senior General Manager of Corporate Sustainability for Suntory, about how this kind of technology can further innovate plastics to advance the circular economy and how Japanese industry approaches bottle-to-bottle recycling through understanding consumer behavior and working with partners.

Yuko Koshiishi is a Senior General Manager of Corporate Sustainability Division at Suntory Holdings, one of the leading global food and beverage company based in Japan. Her current portfolio focuses on the global plastics agenda for Suntory Group, planning policies and execution schemes for achieving the company’s ambitious goal of 100% sustainable PET bottles used globally by 2030.
