In today’s rapidly evolving world, access to high-quality education, especially in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), is essential for preparing students to succeed in the future workforce. Not all students have access to the same resources or opportunities to ignite their interest in STEM fields. Addressing this challenge requires more than curriculum reform — it demands empowering teachers to inspire creativity, innovation and problem-solving across global communities.

Key takeaways

  • Empowering teachers drives student success in STEM education and fosters creativity and innovation across communities.
  • Teach For All’s global network expands equitable access to quality STEM learning by recruiting and developing impactful educators.
  • Collaborations like Dow and Teach For All support under-resourced communities by investing in teacher leadership and inclusive STEM opportunities.
  • Supporting educators is essential for building a global talent pipeline to solve future workforce challenges in science and technology.

Why Dow collaborates with Teach For All to expand access to STEM education

Dow’s collaboration with Teach For All, made possible by the Dow Company Foundation in support of strategic philanthropic investments, is grounded in a shared commitment to advancing equitable education and expanding opportunities for students in under-resourced communities. As a leading global network, Teach For All provides the structure and expertise to recruit, place and professionally develop exceptional STEM educators in countries around the world.

Together, Dow and Teach For All:

  • Support the development of STEM teachers who lead classrooms that cultivate innovative mindsets.
  • Foster student leadership and collaboration — preparing young people to thrive in future STEM careers.
  • Focus on schools and students with limited resources, ensuring that opportunity reaches those who need it most.

Since the expansion of their existing collaboration in 2024 to include communities in Argentina, Japan, Nigeria, Spain, and the U.S., Dow’s direct support of Teach For All has enabled the recruitment and placement of 57 STEM Fellows and provided advanced training and resources to 517 STEM teachers during the 2024-2025 school year. As a result, more than 8,300 students have benefited directly from high-quality STEM instruction, while tens of thousands more have gained exposure through enhanced teaching practices and enriched learning opportunities.

By connecting classroom learning to real-world applications, this collaboration is actively building a more resilient global talent pipeline. It is one that empowers students, strengthens communities and ultimately supports the future talent needs of the materials science sector.

“At Dow, we believe that empowering young minds through STEM education is not just an investment in the future — it’s a commitment to equity, innovation and global progress. Together with Teach For All, we are working to inspire meaningful change across communities, and I’m proud to support a network that shares our vision for inclusive opportunity and lifelong learning.”

Global impact: Transforming STEM education across five countries

The ongoing collaboration between Dow and Teach For All has catalyzed a wave of innovation in STEM education around the world. In 2025, we initiated a campaign together emphasizing enhanced student learning, aligning educational experiences with practical career applications, and empowering educators to guide students toward substantive STEM opportunities.

Through strategic investments and shared expertise, the campaign is equipping teachers and students in Argentina, Japan, Nigeria, Spain, and the United States with the tools, knowledge and confidence to address local and global challenges through STEM innovation.

STEM mentoring in Argentina: Empowering students

Students in technical school

Students connect with teachers and industry representatives in Argentina.

Students from two technical schools in Bahía Blanca, Argentina, created projects that directly met local community needs, such as a smart greenhouse and a 3D hydraulic dam model to help prevent flooding.

During sessions lasting several hours, 17 students, two teachers, and four volunteers from Dow worked together, refining their presentations and considering the real-world effects of their ideas. Local engineers who had grown up in the area offered valuable guidance, making the learning process both meaningful and inspiring.

This practical teamwork not only strengthened STEM knowledge but also supported skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration — key abilities for future careers.

Educational transformation in Japan: Sharing perspectives

In 2025, STEM outreach in rural and remote areas of Japan engaged 86 students in scientific inquiry, creative problem-solving and programming.

These activities enabled students to explore new career possibilities while educators enhanced their capacity to deliver instruction. Teach For Japan’s CEO, Take Nakahara, also joined Dow employees to discuss on Japan’s education system and highlight the collaboration necessary for systemic change.

Through these connection points, students, teachers, network partners, and Dow employees fostered a collective sense of responsibility for broadening educational opportunities, reinforcing a shared dedication to supporting each student in realizing their potential.

Nigeria’s STEM expansion: Modeling representation

In Nigeria, students participated in STEM workshops, tours, and mentoring with Dow employees. Hearing from women who are leaders, inspired them to see new career and leadership possibilities through STEM education.

“Hearing from females in top careers gave me the inspiration that as a female in STEM, I can do more—in tech, in sustainability, and in life.”

STEM activity planning: Building skills and civic responsibility in Spain

Students learning about STEMEducators and industry professionals share insights in Spain.

In Spain, we hosted leaders from Empieza por Educar (Teach For All Spain) as part of a global initiative to inspire STEM careers among under resourced student demographics. Team Dow showcased real-world industrial applications, career pathways, and the importance of safety and innovation. Educators applied the knowledge gained from their visit to develop classroom activities designed to illustrate the practical connections between STEM concepts, careers and community challenges for students. The collaboration continued in early 2026, when Dow Tarragona colleagues led additional workshops, further connecting classrooms to industry experience.

STEM strategies in the United States: Supporting access in under-resourced schools

Students learning about STEM

Students, Teach for All staff and Dow volunteers participate in a STEM learning experience in Louisiana.

In Louisiana, Dow and Teach for America collaborated to introduce 75 high school sophomores to a range of STEM career opportunities extending beyond traditional paths.

Students participated in the first installment of a Dow-produced video series, which showcased roles in mechanics, finance, and medical support. The video series aims to prepare students for an in-person STEM learning experience in 2026, providing them with the opportunity to observe the practical application of classroom concepts in real-world professions.

Educators also facilitated reflective discussions and exercises designed to foster curiosity, enabling students to link their learning to individual career aspirations.

Dow’s approach to corporate social impact in education

At Dow, we are steadfast in our aim to support an education pipeline that connects students with innovation-driven career opportunities. Advancing STEM curriculum is a core priority, but so too is addressing the complex challenges faced by children in under-resourced communities. By investing in both educational access and excellence, Dow helps cultivate the next generation of scientists, engineers and leaders who will shape industries and communities for years to come.

Why STEM education collaboration matters: Lasting impact for students, teachers and communities

The ongoing collaboration between Dow and Teach For All is transforming communities and generating enduring value for all involved — students, teachers, and customers alike. By empowering educators and students to apply STEM learning to real-world problems, from robotics addressing waste management in Argentina to water purification initiatives in Nigeria, Dow is strengthening the very skills needed in tomorrow’s workforce.

This collaboration demonstrates the power of investing in education as a means of creating shared value. It builds stronger, more resilient communities, prepares young people for leadership and innovation, and fuels the STEM talent pipeline that drives Dow’s ambition and global success.
