Mitch Evans, driver for Dow partner Jaguar TCS Racing, wins second place in Season 8 ABB FIA Formula E Drivers’ World Championship

Within the momentum of Dow’s second season partnering with Jaguar TCS Racing, drivers Mitch Evans & Norman Nato had a stunning finish in the final two races of this season’s ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Seoul, with Evans securing second in the drivers’ championship.

MIDLAND, Mich. – August 23, 2022 – After an exciting weekend at the 2022 Hana Bank Seoul E-Prix in South Korea, Dow (NYSE: DOW) is celebrating alongside partner Jaguar TCS Racing on a thrilling Season 8 finish. After claiming victory in the first race of the double-header and a seventh-place finish in the second, Evans was awarded second in the Drivers’ World Championship. Nato, the team’s reserve driver, who has been with the team at every race this season, filled in for Team Dow Ambassador Sam Bird whilst he was out with a hand injury. Bird’s points from the season secured him a 13th place finish. The Jaguar TCS Racing team finished in fourth place in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Mitch Evans poses with trophiesThis exciting finish marks the completion of Dow’s second season as the Official Materials Science Partner of Jaguar TCS Racing. The partnership began in 2020 with the goal of activating its 100+ years of automotive experience and materials science expertise to help the team drive faster, lighter and more efficiently than ever – and last season’s top-two finish for the team was certainly a sign of positive momentum. Since then, Dow MobilityScience™ and Jaguar TCS Racing engineers have been hard at work behind the scenes, collaborating on new solutions designed to advance the all-electric racecar and, eventually, innovation of commercial electric vehicles off track.

Together, the teams have been working on engineering and incorporating solutions that will address key areas related to materials science on the Jaguar I-TYPE 5, like thermal management, adhesion, circularity and electromagnetic interference. For thermal management specifically, team engineers implemented silicone technology that has been able to help protect and regulate necessary components in the crucial powertrain, providing an overall efficiency gain.

To elaborate on this partnership and how it’s pushing the future of mobility, James Barclay, Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal & Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Motorsport, and Tim Boven, Global Director for Dow MobilityScience™, sat down for discussion on Dow’s Seek Together Podcast.

Dow and Jaguar TCS Racing will be teaming up again for Season 9 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship which will witness the launch of the Gen-3 car– the fastest, lightest, most efficient electric racecar ever made. The season is provisionally scheduled to kick off in January 2023 in Mexico City.

The double race win in Rome, winning the first ever races in Jakarta and Seoul, seven podiums and our biggest points haul in Formula E are moments to be proud of. I would like to thank every member of the team, our drivers and our incredible partners for their support. Dow’s materials science expertise allows us to unlock the marginal gains that make all the difference in motorsport, and we’re excited to see how this partnership will continue to develop into Season 9 and the exciting new Gen3 era.”

Tim Boven, Global Director for Dow MobilityScience™
“Team Dow sends all our congratulations to Mitch, Sam and Norman and the entire Jaguar TCS Racing team as they end with a strong finish to this year’s Formula E season. Watching them compete while simultaneously bringing to life the innovations our teams have developed these past two years has been inspiring and motivating, and it’s exciting to see our partnership’s progress on the track turn into progress for our planet as our innovations in motorsport help advance vehicle electrification for all.”

Mitch Evans, Jaguar TCS Racing Driver
“The team should be proud of what we have all achieved, and that includes the critical support from our partners like Dow. This season is still a triumph, especially as we took the fight to the last day. We did everything we could, four wins, seven podiums and I’m very proud.
