Dow wins four 2020 Edison Awards for Breakthrough Technologies

Midland, Mich. – September 17, 2020 – Four breakthrough technologies from Dow (NYSE: DOW) were recognized with prestigious Edison Awards. The winners, selected from thousands of nominees, were announced on April 8, 2020. Dow received two silver and two bronze awards in the Materials Science and Engineering category.

Since 1987, the Edison Awards have honored the best in innovation and innovators. Being recognized with an Edison Award™ is one of the highest accolades a company can receive in the name of innovation and business success.

Silver - DOWSIL™ EC-6601 Electrically Conductive Adhesive won a silver award in the Materials Science and Engineering category and Adhesives subcategory. EC-6601 offers a step change in performance of electrically conductive adhesives, critical for emerging applications in autonomous driving, cameras and 5G base station applications. It provides high elongation, superior shielding, strong adhesion, durability and conductive performance.

Silver - DOWSIL™ EI-2888 Primerless Silicone Encapsulant earned a silver award in the Materials Science and Engineering category and Coating Materials subcategory. Dow’s novel patented catalytic system allowed us to create an inhibition-proof primerless silicone encapsulant for harsh environment lighting without compromising the optical performance in the final lighting application. This invention leads to more reliable assembly process in fewer steps for harsh environment luminaires, while also providing needed protection and a "lighter" luminaire design in terms of cost and weight.

Bronze - DIAMONDLOCK™ Polyurethane Adhesive for improved flooring installation won a bronze award in the Materials Science and Engineering category and Adhesives subcategory. Flooring professionals face a number of challenges to deliver fast, economical and sustainable solutions to their customers – including fast return to service, increased coverage rate and low-VOC emissions. DIAMONDLOCK™ is a pourable, one-component, moisture-cured flooring adhesive made with these challenges in mind.

Bronze - DOWSIL™ VE-2003 UV Optical Bonding earned a bronze award in the Materials Science and Engineering category and Coating Materials subcategory. Dow’s new UV curable, optically clear silicone for automotive displays assembly provides a dependable solution for fabricating high quality display modules that require long term reliability.
