COVID-19 PANDEMIC: Dow Korea Donates 28 Million KRW to Support Nationwide COVID-19 Relief Efforts

April 28, 2020 - To join Dow’s effort to combat the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic worldwide, Dow Korea, with its employees, donates approximately 28 million KRW (USD 23,666) to support medical professionals and first responders on frontline and COVID-19 victims.

Employees from Dow Korea initiated a donation campaign from April 8 to April 22 for two weeks to join the social effort to overcome the pandemic. The initiative collected 7 million KRW (approximately $5,833) from 98 employees of Dow Korea. These funds will be matched by Dow Company Foundation (1x of employee donation) and Dow Korea (2x of employee donation), totaling 28 million KRW, and delivered to the Hope Bridge Korea, the largest disaster relief association in Korea.

The donation will be used to provide rudimentary resources such as medical kit and personal protective equipment to frontline health workers and first responders tirelessly working on the coronavirus pandemic to protect the community. It will also be used for purchasing and distributing sanitary items such as masks and hand sanitizers for families in need, especially in the areas with the highest concentration of COVID-19 cases.

“Dow Korea is closely connected with its neighbors and society, and we join in the nationwide response to address this epic health challenge,” said Andrew Ryu, Country Manager of Dow Korea. He added: “A special thanks goes to the many employees who show exemplary commitment by initiating the donation campaign and I am proud to acknowledge that 30% of Dow Korea employees stepped up to help the community affected by COVID-19 crisis.”
