Dow demonstrates the power of polyurethanes in shaping the future
Industry thought leaders and collaborators join Dow’s virtual customer event to discuss key growth drivers in making polyurethanes the material of the future
The business imperative to address environmental, societal, and regulatory challenges is driving a shift away from business-as-usual in the polyurethane industry to more agile and sustainable processes and technologies. Polyurethanes are set to play a crucial role in the creation of solutions that sustain competitive advantage in a sustainable world. Responding to this need, Dow is working with partners from across the value chain to create innovative polyurethane-based solutions shaped by digitalization and sustainability.
“Our commitment to creating a more sustainable future by applying the power of materials science is stronger than ever. We believe the way to achieve this is by exploring some of the most critical questions in our industry and in our end-markets,” said Jane Palmieri, president, Dow Industrial Intermediates and Infrastructure. “Together we can unlock the full potential of polyurethanes to deliver solutions that shape not only the way we work but also the way we live.
Harnessing digitalization with machine learning and AI
To accelerate the digitalization of its business, Dow has embarked on an ambitious digitalization journey. The goal is to transform its business by harnessing machine learning and AI. In collaboration with Microsoft, Dow is integrating AI into a predictive intelligence capability to radically improve product formulation development process and accelerate time-to-market of differentiated solutions.
Demonstrating polyurethane sustainability and circularity
Guided by its sustainability strategy, Polyurethanes business aims to reduce the industry’s carbon footprint. Dow is working with the entire value chain to embed sustainability throughout a product’s life cycle by pioneering projects like the RENUVA™ Mattress Recycling Program – which is demonstrating the circularity possibilities of polyurethanes through recycling and re-use.
Engaging customers and value chains
“Recognizing that in these dynamic times, we had to find ways to stay close to our customers and help them address their challenges, the team at Dow launched this entirely virtual customer engagement platform,” commented Marcel Moeller, EMEAI marketing director and global sustainability director, Dow Polyurethanes. “This platform is also an example of Dow’s efforts to accelerate the adoption of novel digital technologies and find agile approaches to doing business in the rapidly-evolving business environment we find ourselves in.”
Over two half days on March 22 and 23, Dow’s Shaping the Future with Polyurethanes virtual event will address the latest industry trends, share insights, strategies and opportunities that will benefit the entire polyurethanes value chain. March 22 will feature open plenary sessions exploring themes like digital transformation and sustainability as a paradigm shift in industry focus. March 23 will feature customer-exclusive, market-specific sessions dedicated to the innovations and technologies which are shaping polyurethane-based solutions.
