Candiani adopts SURLYN™ PC 2000 REN for a new range of premium, more sustainable cream jars

Horgen, Switzerland – September 27, 2025 – The Italian company G. Candiani, a specialist in cosmetic industry packaging, strengthens its collaboration with Dow by adopting the new material SURLYN™ PC 2000 REN, a renewable version of the renowned SURLYN™ Ionomers, now used in its premium and sustainable cream jar offerings.

Specializing in the creation, design, and production of plastic packaging for the perfume and cosmetics sector, Candiani offers specific solutions—caps, jars, and custom bottles—as well as a wide range of standard cream jars made from SURLYN™ Ionomers.

Thanks to its technical expertise in plastic injection and Dow’s commitment to sustainable materials, a new range of sustainable cream jars—for face, body, and eye contour—is being launched. It now incorporates SURLYN™ REN Ionomers, meeting the growing expectations of brands seeking responsible solutions without compromising on perceived quality and packaging aesthetics, as emphasized by Carlo Candiani, company director: "For years, we’ve trusted SURLYN™ Ionomers. This resin gives us great design freedom to create perfume caps and cream jars that combine technicality and aesthetics. Today, with SURLYN™ PC 2000 REN Ionomers, we offer an alternative made from bio-circular resources with the same performance, meeting significant market needs."

Design, Sustainability, and Versatility

SURLYN™ PC 2000 REN Ionomer helps retain the key advantages that attracted Candiani—crystal-clear transparency, luxurious shine, silky touch, impact resistance, and design freedom.

Candiani fully leverages these properties to offer ultra-customized packaging from a standard base. The company provides a range of cream jars for eyes, face, and body (15 ml, 50 ml, 200 ml formats), in various shapes—round or square—and a wide palette of colors: transparent, red, blue, turquoise, or yellow.

Multiple decorative finishes (hot stamping, traditional or UV screen printing) and surface effects allow for a broad range of customizations, perfectly suited to brand identities. The material’s robustness makes it ideal for travel packaging, while retaining the look and feel of glass without its fragility.

A Renewable Material Without Compromising Quality

Made from bio-circular resources such as used cooking oils, SURLYN™ PC 2000 REN Ionomer helps reduce carbon footprint while maintaining the optical, sensory, and mechanical performance that made the original material famous. Its production is ISCC+ (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) certified under the mass balance approach.

Toward Circular and Innovative Packaging Solutions

Following a successful integration of SURLYN™ REN Ionomers in LVMH group caps—starting with GUERLAIN’s La Petite Robe Noire—Candiani now chooses this circular material for its packaging solutions. These successive collaborations reflect the collective momentum within the industry, where co-innovation between brands, converters, and material producers becomes a concrete lever to evolve the industry toward more responsible, creative, and ambitious models.

"Dow’s commitment to the circular economy is based on a strong conviction: innovation is key to reducing our environmental impact, without compromising the performance and elegance of materials," says Imran Munshi, global consumer market segment leader at Dow.

The jars will be on display at the Candiani booth at Luxepack in Monaco from 29 September to 1 October, and K 2025 in Dusseldorf, Germany from 8-15 October at the Dow building 04.1, outside Hall 4.

More Product Information

SURLYN™ Ionomers are the material of choice primarily for high-end perfume caps and cosmetic cream jars due to its crystal-like transparency. Often compared to a “soft diamond,” SURLYN™ Ionomers are a flexible material that gives cosmetic designers the freedom to adapt it to their needs. It is also known for its superior resistance to scratches and chemicals. This versatility, combined with high-performance qualities, makes it a highly sought-after material for premium cosmetic products.

Dow launched two new ranges in the SURLYN™ Ionomers family that innovate in the use of circular and bio-circular raw materials. SURLYN™ CIR Ionomers and SURLYN™ REN Ionomers allow beauty brands and manufacturers to create high-quality cosmetic packaging that stands out in the market and offers enhanced sustainability.
