We believe an inclusive, diverse and equitable supplier base not only benefits our business, but also the communities where we operate. We offer supplier training and development programs, mentorship opportunities, events and networking opportunities for diverse suppliers. Our goal is to achieve $500 million in global diverse supplier spend by 2025.
How do you transform challenges into opportunities, redefine what’s possible and help create a more efficient, more sustainable world at the same time? It takes collaboration, teamwork, and a belief that the next breakthrough is only a moment of inspiration away.
For more than 100 years, chemistry and manufacturing have played an integral part in the growth of this region. Southern Brazoria County has been the birthplace of solutions and home to some of the greatest minds in history. This is still true today.
Aligned to Dow's ambition, our enhanced Global Citizenship strategy supports an innovative, sustainable, and inclusive future. We strive to actively apply our innovative technology, employee expertise and culture of inclusion to drive our citizenship priorities and investments forward, generating transformational social impact in Brazoria County and around the world.
Whether you partner with us, work at Dow, or experience our materials in your favorite brands, we are relentlessly working to make the world and this community better.
Communities we support
In Brazoria County, Dow emphasizes partnerships that serve communities where Dow employees live and work, including:
Alvin, TX

Brazoria, TX
Danbury, TX
Freeport, TX
Lake Jackson, TX
Manvel, TX
Pearland, TX

The partnership between Texas Operations and the United Way of Brazoria County demonstrates our employees and contract partners willingness to give back to the Brazosport community and support those who need a helping hand. Dow holds various other fundraisers for United Way of Brazoria County throughout the year, such as chili cook-offs, employee game nights, and book drives, to continue lending support for the many services they offer the community.

Together, we are catalyzing employee volunteerism, business partnerships and community connections, to inspire a circular ecosystem through the removal, transformation and prevention of waste in the environment. In the six years since Dow launched our #PullingOurWeight campaign, tens of thousands of colleagues, family members and stakeholder volunteers have collected more than 2.1 million pounds of waste from waterways and watersheds to neighborhoods as part of the largest single-cause volunteer effort in the company’s history.
Community Advisory Panels (CAPs) have been implemented at Dow sites all over the world to provide an opportunity for members and leaders of the communities in which Dow operates to learn about, and provide input on, Dow’s operations and community engagement. The objective is a transparent dialogue with the Dow CAP to obtain perspectives to help shape Dow’s decisions and strategies. It is also intended to increase community members’ understanding of Dow’s core values and global citizenship strategy to bring benefit through our business to the community.
Dow CAP membership is by invite and reflective of cross-sectional county leadership, including economic development, education, and political leaders. Dow uses CAP meetings to convene with high level leaders who have influence and can offer input to how Dow can proactively lead instead of being a "fast follower" and to exceed community expectations instead of just satisfying them. Focus is given to environmental health and safety, company performance, and community and policy engagement. The membership of this CAP is key business, community and political leaders from the region.
Membership is by invitation and is restricted to the following individuals:
A member of the executive staff of any CAP member may attend in place of an unavailable CAP member. Membership invitation is extended by letter from the TXO Site Leader to individuals holding the office, title, or role. The letter of invitation provides an overview of the content of this guiding document.
The CAP meets quarterly at the Dow Diamond Center. Based on annual membership, the meeting time may change. Currently, the CAP meets in the morning and typically in the months of February, May, September, and November.
CAP meetings follow an agenda of EH&S, Site and Company update, Community/Policy, Old Business and Roundtable. As discussions occur around these standing agenda items, if the CAP wants a wider perspective from internal or external subject matter experts, those people will be invited to a meeting by Dow leadership.
CAP members can submit agenda topics for consideration at any time during the year. Dow and CAP members will work collectively to bring diverse perspectives to the conversation.
