Corporate Research employs scientists from a broad range of technical backgrounds – from chemists, chemical engineers, and materials scientists to automation experts and data scientists. Our Corporate Research scientists investigate fundamental innovations based on the guidance of Dow’s businesses, seeking to enhance the value and performance of Dow's product platforms. Home to many of Dow’s unique-to-the-world capabilities, Corporate Research is leveraged across all the markets and applications served by Dow products.
Product Research is aligned to specific Dow businesses, and is focused on evaluating customer needs and developing differentiated product solutions. Scientists in Dow’s Product Research Groups focus on specific material platforms, seeking to understand structure property relationships relative to established and emerging application requirements. Furthermore, Process Research Engineers define efficient routes to produce Dow’s products at scale with the quality and performance required by our customers.
Technical Service and Development supports customer needs by providing technical knowledge on the use, handling and management of Dow products. They also help catalyze the development of new products when emerging application requirements provide opportunities for material innovation. Technical Service and Development Scientists establish close relationships with customers and participate in collaborative projects with them to deliver valuable innovations to the world.
Research & Development interns work with project teams to address real-world chemical and materials challenges through fundamental and applied research. Projects span product, process, and application development. Internships are available at the BS, MS, and PhD level. Specific opportunities including project type, geography and timing are variable.
Dow’s Research Assignments Program (RAP) offers a select number of newly hired, highly qualified Ph.D. scientists and engineers an opportunity to make meaningful impact to business-critical technologies in a two-year rotational research training program. RAP employees rapidly gain knowledge of Dow's technologies, products and processes and build a broad network of professional contacts across the company.
