Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Site Logistics Technical Advisor located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada.
About you and this role:
The Site Logistics Technical Advisor Technologist serves in a vital role for Site Logistics, utilizing process knowledge, technical expertise, and site logistics experience to assist, teach and coach plant personnel. Focuses on troubleshooting process or equipment issues, improving process performance, and increasing site logistics reliability. Typically, responsible for a larger plant or facility. Requires advanced skills and expertise in a range of administrative, data organization or coordination processes, procedures and systems, or specialized technical expertise within an analytical/scientific method or operational process to perform a broad range of complex work assignments.
In this role, you will require advanced level of skills and expertise in administrative, data organization, and coordination processes, procedures, and associated systems or specialized technical expertise with analytical/scientific methods or operational processes. You should be able to perform a broad range of complex assignments and understand how teams coordinate efforts and resources to achieve organizational objectives. You will need to have the ability to evaluate and explain unusual and/or complex information use tact and diplomacy when communicating with others.
It is your responsibility to be able to gather and analyze data to identify and resolve unique, complex, or unusual problems. You will be required to provide subject matter guidance to less experienced team members and serve as a specialist or lead for the team with no formal supervisory responsibilities. Your performance impacts your own team and other teams with closely related work activities. You are expected to suggest improvements to existing processes and solutions to improve overall team efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Acts as a technical/process subject matter resource in the assigned site logistics area
Performs or assists in process related root cause or failure analysis. Leverages and communicates the results to operate site logistics personnel for learning purposes. Ensures thorough and timely pre-investigations occur
Works with continuous improvement and site logistics resources to identify, implement and sustain improvements relating to area of expertise
Develops and maintain site logistics process training material content and qualification assessments
Maintains a high involvement in the formal training process and qualification of team members on site logistics process
Develops a strong partnership with the site logistics activity coordinator/gate keeper and provides back up to these roles, as needed
Maintains “on call” status for plant unplanned events, emergencies and advising
Owns and coaches others on the effective use of logbook, focusing on quality of information entered and appropriate note type/stamp utilization
Participates in available Technical Advising role networks to improve personal effectiveness and leveraging of best practices
Creates, reviews, modifies and approves site logistics procedures to ensure sound operating discipline
Partners closely with the site logistics staff to resolve problems, drive continuous improvement, and ensure the site logistics goals are achieved and mentors new site logistics staff as they on-board and train.
