About you and this role
The Polyurethanes and Construction Chemicals Business has an exciting and challenging opportunity available for a Site Leader/Production Leader position for the Dilovasi Polyurethanes Systems Site in Turkey.
This role has an overall accountability for the safety, reliability and growth performance of the site. Being an isolated location, the Site/Production Leader represents Dow in the area and directly manages relationships with industrial partners and local authorities.
Responsibilities
EHS/Reliability Leadership:
- Maintains site compliance with all internal and external regulations. Represent site and maintain relationships with the local government.
- Ensures the plant is meeting the operational requirements of Dow’s businesses and continuously improving. This includes environmental, health and safety, product delivery, quality and operating the plant to meet customers’ needs.
- Maintains Dow’s license to operate by developing and maintaining strong relationships with community, state/provincial and federal political and regulatory leaders.
- Provide leadership and coaching to operations personnel on issues dealing with safety, environmental, personal health, quality, logistics, cost, productivity, reliability and the business/customers.
- Drives a strong MOC process in their organization to ensure that reviews are completed thoroughly, risks are adequately assessed, and personnel are properly trained prior to implementing changes in the production facility.
- Ensures timely and effective investigations are conducted with appropriate corrective and preventative actions to prevent recurrence. Leverages lessons to other facilities.
Organizational Effectiveness / People Leadership:
- Creates an inclusive and collaborative work environment
- Ensures success of all operational excellence elements of site operations including providing the strategic leadership necessary for successful long-term operation of site facilities. The site leader represents Dow locally.
- Sets vision and ensures goals are established and executed in alignment with business objectives, while adapting to changing conditions. Provides motivation, context, and purpose to the team through frequent communications.
- Engages established leveraged site services to achieve plant success.
- Provides a sustainable, highly trained operational work force including contractors.
- Balances short-term priorities with long-term needs of the site and the business on site.
- Maintains and improves the expertise index of the facility organization, ensuring that appropriate knowledge remains within the facility – comprehensive training and on-boarding are essential.
- Inspires and motivates the organization. Continuously Meets the annual expense budget for the plant as set by the function and business.
- Facilitate personnel development, counselling, motivation, and policy-setting to create environment for employees and work teams that support commitment to continuous improvement and empowerment.
- Develop annual and long-term operating budgets, operate the plants within these guidelines, and conduct monthly analysis to ensure costs are in compliance with budgetary goals and functional guidelines.
- Owns the management system and validates its effectiveness via Management System Reviews (MSR’s).
- Addresses discipline issues in a timely manner. Escalates to proper channels as needed.
- shows appreciation and maintains a servant-leader mindset.
Business Owner Mindset / Financial Acumen:
- Develops and maintains relationships with the appropriate business and functional leaders to ensure that the needs of the business are understood and communicated to the site.
- Develops financial acumen skills across the organization to accelerate profitability and productivity. Understands business model and strategy for facility and helps the plant team to understand how they fit into the business/company. Uses knowledge of assets, products, customers, and technology to ensure the business strategy maximizes value from the asset.
Quality / Continuous Improvement:
- Understands customer needs and drives high levels of quality, responsiveness, and reliability for the customer. Interfaces with customers as needed.
- Drives continuous improvement mindset and actions across the organization using Six Sigma, LEAN, and IPS.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant M&E experience
Your Skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and initiatives
- Work across diverse cultures, communicate effectively and lead by influence, to achieve results at both business and plant level.
- Ability to embrace Inclusion and Diversity and visibly display a set of behaviors that foster the personal and professional development of team members.
- Six Sigma or Lean skills is preferred
- Previous Functional and Operations Leadership Experience
- Advanced degrees and training are beneficial
- Demonstrated successful experience in Environment, Health and Safety performance.
- Turkish language skills preferred due to Site location.
