Military service instills invaluable experience, discipline and leadership skills that can smoothly translate into a successful career at Dow. We are committed to hiring veterans and helping them thrive.
Our Military Degree Equivalency (MDE) program provides individuals with extensive military backgrounds the opportunity to bring their broad scope of training and education, experience in leadership, and understanding of high pressure situations into a successful career at Dow. We offer two kinds of degree equivalencies.
Veterans with three or more years of relevant military experience are considered to have an associate’s degree for certain roles.
Relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 (or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant) ranking counts as a bachelor’s degree for certain roles.
We support veterans through targeted programs and mentorships that help them successfully navigate and adapt to Dow’s workplace culture. These initiatives focus on skills mapping, career development, and building connections that accelerate their transition and growth.
We established VETNET to advance the recruitment, personal development, and mentorship of service members and veterans, while also serving as an education resource generating community outreach
Veterans on Team Dow who serve in the U.S. receive military leave of absence for up to five years- most with continuation of compensation and benefits from Dow.

“My military training has given me many skills that translate into my work life. One important quality is the ability to have an “inquisitive attitude.” It has ensured we are doing the right thing and that what we build is needed at the Seadrift site. The specific experience I gained in the Naval Nuclear Power Program, along with my experience in Energy Systems, gives me a detailed understanding of how a power plant supports a manufacturing site operation.”

“Dow was the only company I applied to after transitioning out of the Marine Corps because of their reputation for taking care of their employees including veterans. I learned a great deal of leadership, professionalism, and initiative in the military and these skills are all very relatable to the job of a process operator.”
