Female participation in golf is on the rise. In the U.S. in 2019, 36% of all junior golfers were girls compared to 15% in 2000. As an organization that strives to champion Inclusivity this excites us – and it’s a big part of why we’ve partnered with the LPGA Tour. Through this partnership, and as a founding partner of the LPGA’s new online platform, the LPGA Women’s Network, we are committed to helping foster inclusion and diversity, inspiring curiosity with STEM, and demonstrating our commitment to sustainability in and through the country’s most popular individual sport.
The PGA TOUR like Dow is a global organization. As the leading men’s professional golf organization, the TOUR provides playing opportunities for its professionals that span the globe. Our Dow sponsored athlete ambassadors on the TOUR help tell and amplify the conversation around materials science and the unique technologies that impact the world of golf. These conversations make Dow products more tangible and relatable to golfers worldwide.
We love the LPGA Tour. And we decided to bring it to our own backyard of Midland, Michigan with the goal of making it the most sustainable, inclusive, team-oriented and dynamic event on the LPGA Tour. In its inaugural year, the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational (GLBI) accomplished an unprecedented milestone as it was awarded the LPGA’s Tournament of the Year. And, in line with Dow’s 5-year sustainability strategy, the GLBI was the first professional tournament to achieve GEO Certification® also in its first year.
With a unique team-based tournament format, Dow GLBI brings the world’s best female golfers together and fosters a sense of community and inclusion that positively impacts people’s lives, on and off the course. #TeamUp
