Andre Argenton is the Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer for Dow, a global materials science company with 2024 sales of approximately $43 billion. In this role, he is responsible for leading Dow’s sustainability, growth and innovation agendas, creating value for Dow and its customers through strategic collaboration and new product commercialization.

His oversight includes Dow’s global Research & Development (R&D) organization, as well as driving the Company’s safety and health priorities through his leadership of the corporate Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) organization.

Argenton was named Dow’s Chief Sustainability Officer and Vice President of EHS&S in 2022 and since then has accelerated Dow’s efforts to create value for its customers and society through the commercialization of sustainable products and solutions. At that time he also assumed responsibility for corporate EH&S governance and Dow’s ESG reporting and disclosures. Before that appointment, he was vice president of Dow’s Core R&D, overseeing a broad portfolio of research programs and world-leading innovation capabilities that enable technical development across multiple key market segments.

Argenton earned a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of São Paulo. He joined Dow Brazil in 1999 and moved to the United States in 2007. Throughout his career, he has worked across the spectrum of chemistries and technologies supporting a broad range of industries and covering all facets of innovation from new product development to process research to customer-facing application development.

A scientist by training, Argenton is skilled in surfactants and colloidal chemistry, research management, applied statistics and leadership — capabilities he has applied across Dow’s innovation portfolio and operational excellence programs.

Argenton has served on several academic advisory boards. Currently, his external commitments include the University of Michigan Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Michigan Erb Institute and the NYSE Sustainability Advisory Council. He is an active member of Dow’s Hispanic Latin Network employee resource group and previously served as the global co-chair.
