Volunteers Support Education Centre for Visually Impaired Children in Laski Poland
MIDLAND, Mich. - December 12, 2016 -
On November 16, 2016, Dow employees in Poland joined the “Leaf Day” volunteer event at the Education Center for Visually Impaired Children in Laski, near Warsaw. The center is a well-known institution in the Warsaw area that was founded in 1911, and provides education and activities for blind children. Today, the center is helping more than 250 young people.
Thirteen employee volunteers from different Dow businesses and functions spent the day helping young people and their teachers to write donation wish letters, put up Christmas decorations, and work in the garden at the center. Dow was pleased to announce that it will support the institution with a donation of special therapy equipment and furniture.
The event resulted in 3,000 donation wish letters that will be sent to different companies and partners. Five volunteers worked in the ceramic workshop to assist children in preparing Christmas decorations. Dow volunteers also worked outside repainting a wheelbarrow needed for gardening work. Employee volunteer events at the Laski Center began four years ago, and have become a tradition for the Dow team in Poland.
