New Investments Demonstrate Commitment to the Great Lakes Bay Region

The building, called the Global Dow Center, is the cornerstone of a multi-year initiative to prepare the Willard H. Dow Center, Dow's historic corporate campus in Midland, for the Company's next era of growth and innovation.

Dow reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the Great Lakes Bay Region as it celebrates the grand opening of its new headquarters building in Midland, and breaks ground for its recently announced $100 million Innovation Center at the heritage Dow Corning corporate campus.

State-of-the-art new global headquarters

The building, called the Global Dow Center, is the cornerstone of a multi-year initiative to prepare the Willard H. Dow Center, Dow's historic corporate campus in Midland, for the Company's next era of growth and innovation.

The 184,000 square-feet, six-story building has been designed to become LEED1 certified after its entry into service, and will include space for approximately 470 employees and contractors. The building features Dow's technology-enabled building materials and puts the principles of circular economy thinking into practice, with more than 20 percent of the building materials from recycled sources.

As part of this project, Dow's Employee Development Center is currently being renovated and will be renamed in honor of Dr. Sylvia Stoesser, a brilliant chemist who earned 29 patents during her career at Dow as the Company's first female research scientist. A new H. H. Dow Visitor and Heritage Center is also under construction on the campus and is expected to open in late 2017.

The construction phase created and supported more than 40,000 Michigan-based full-time work days over the past two years. The new facility has been built by KIRCO, a company headquartered in Troy, Michigan, with more than 40 years of experience in energy efficient construction.

New world-class Innovation Center to be built on the heritage Dow Corning corporate campus

Dow also announced the ground breaking for a new Innovation Center during an event at the site of the former Dow Corning global headquarters. Construction will start soon and will add to Dow's existing Michigan-based innovation capabilities.

The Innovation Center will house approximately 200 research and development employees who will explore future technologies at the intersections of Dow's unparalleled knowledge of organic chemistry and silicone technology, enabled by the June 2016 ownership restructuring of Dow Corning. This dedicated team of scientists will enable Dow not only to innovate upon already existing solutions, but also to invent new-to-the-world molecules combining the unique properties of silicones into Dow's broad materials science offerings.

The new Innovation Center and added R&D power will complement the work of Dow's more than 1,200 researchers and developers already based in the Great Lakes Bay Region, to focus on market opportunities such as advancing technologies for home and personal care products, enhancing and broadening Dow's energy-saving building technologies, advancing materials science for critical infrastructure, and driving closer partnerships with customers and the value chain leaders.
