Introducing Omada® – An Innovative Health Benefit Available to Pre-M
Midland, MI - April 04, 2017 - At Dow, we offer an array of benefit plans and programs that provide choices to help you stay healthy, get the care you need and protect your family. As part of our top-tier Total Rewards package, Dow is pleased to offer the Omada® health improvement program to pre-Medicare eligible U.S. retirees and their adult dependents participating in a Dow medical plan.
Omada® is a breakthrough online program that inspires healthy habits you can live with long-term. It combines the behavior change science and unwavering support you’ll need to lose weight, keep it off, and help reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
To date, over 3,000 Dow People have enrolled in the Omada® program and the results are exciting! Almost 50 percent of the program participants have lost 5 percent of their body weight, and are keeping it off! Here’s what a recent Dow participant said about the program:

How Can I Find Out if I am Eligible to Participate in Omada®?
There are three steps to determine if you qualify to participate in Omada®:
- Are you covered on a Dow medical plan?
- If yes, to #1 above, take the one-minute risk screening questionnaire.
- If you qualify to participate based on #1 and #2 above, Dow will cover the entire cost of the program for eligible U.S. employees, pre-Medicare eligible retirees, and their adult dependents – a $700 value!
Why Might Someone be Ineligible to Participate?
An individual may not qualify to participate if they are not covered under a Dow medical plan, or their Body Mass Index (BMI) is less than 24.
Omada® Helps You Lose Weight and Reduce Your Risk of Diabetes
Omada® is based on the Diabetes Prevention Program* clinical trial, which showed that people at high risk can delay or avoid developing type 2 diabetes by losing weight through diet and exercise. Participants who did this lifestyle intervention reduced their risk of developing diabetes by 58 percent and lost 5 percent of their body weight, maintaining that for a year and beyond!
Omada® uses a multi-faceted approach to both inspire and enable change. The program includes:
- Expert Health Coaching with one-on-one, dedicated support and advice from a professional health coach
- Small Group Support with private online peer groups for encouragement
- Health Data Monitoring including a no-setup wireless scale to monitor your progress, plus a digital pedometer and mobile app for food tracking
- Interactive Program that adapts to you
- Weekly Online Lessons to educate and inspire
More great news: If you’re at risk for type 2 diabetes or heart disease and participate in a Dow medical plan, Dow will cover the entire cost of the program for eligible U.S. employees, pre-Medicare eligible retirees, and their adult dependents – a $700 value.
Important update for Medicare-eligible retirees: Please note CMS/Medicare announced that diabetes prevention programs will be covered for Medicare participants starting in late 2017 or early 2018.
