Dow Announces Contributions to Flint Water Relief Efforts
Support includes partnerships with United Way and Habitat for Humanity and employee- and retiree-led initiatives
Midland, MI - April 07, 2016 - Dow has been engaged with the city of Flint and the state of Michigan, along with several community and philanthropic organizations, to determine how we can assist in providing immediate and long-term, sustainable solutions to the city and affected residents.
The outpouring of interest from Dow people has been tremendous – many of you have reached out to see how you can assist and to learn more about how Dow is engaging in Flint.
Dow recently announced our partnership with Genesee County Habitat for Humanity. As part of this collaboration, we will donate 150 water-filtration systems using Dow’s reverse osmosis technology to all Habitat for Humanity homes in Flint, Michigan.
In addition, Dow is matching up to $50,000 in employee, retiree and contractor contributions, building upon the $60,000 in contributions already provided through The Dow Chemical Company Foundation.
Installation of the water-filtration systems will be completed by volunteers, Habitat staff and contractors. Dow retirees and employees who are experienced with “do-it-yourself” home repair and improvement activities are encouraged to participate. If you would like to volunteer, please sign up by Friday, April 8, through Volunteer Match to indicate interest and receive more information.
If you are interested in participating in the match program, please visit the United Way of Genesee County site to learn more and to make a voluntary donation to the Flint water relief efforts. Simply fill out the donation form and submit it. When donating directly to the United Way of Genesee County/Dow giving page, your gift will be documented and automatically matched. Information submitted will be used solely for this limited relief purpose and will not be provided to any third party. The matching fund program closes on April 30.
Thank you for your interest and continued commitment to our neighbors in need.
