Dow Qatar Showcases Innovation at the World Engineers Summit
Midland, Mich - August 21, 2017 - - Under the framework of collaborative sustainable urban development, the World Engineers Summit 2017 brought together industry experts, academics, and policy makers to discuss how the latest engineering innovations can accelerate the transitions toward more sustainable economies. More than 400 regional and global industry leaders from the public and private sectors attended this biannual event in Singapore.
The event’s key focus was on the exchange of the latest progress in urban systems and policy options. Dow Qatar’s triple helix approach to the mega events in the Middle East was selected as one of the key topics for the conference’s urban planning program. Top companies such as Arup, Rolls-Royce, and Siemens also joined the discussions and shared their best practices on innovative engineering.
Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister, Teo Chee Hean, opened the summit emphasizing the need for more constant collaborations between the public and private sectors. “Scientists and engineers can play a crucial role to address climate challenges through low carbon and urban energy solutions,” he said. “Our agencies are working with scientists and engineers to push the frontier and help reduce environmental impact so that we can achieve sustainable, low-carbon growth. This will require a mix of policy tools and research outcomes from our multi-disciplinary teams comprising engineers, scientists, environmentalists, planners, and policy makers.”
The event concluded with the launch of the Energy Procedia and Elsevier Journal with a compilation of the papers and abstracts presented during the summit.
