In association with the Gulf Petrochemical and Chemicals Association (GPCA), Dow hosted the third edition of the “Young Scientists Program,” which is now known as the “Young Leaders Program.” The initiative identifies and rewards students from the region who are pursuing careers in chemical and petroleum engineering. This unique program allowed 75 top-performing students from across the region to access information to help further their studies in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) related fields.
Students also had the opportunity to attend the 11th Annual GPCA Forum in Dubai, including networking with senior Dow leaders including Jim Fitterling, President and Chief Operating Officer. Jim shared his experiences with the students talked about the petrochemical industry as a whole and in the region. The students were very excited about the opportunity to network with Jim and other well-known leaders in the sector. The students also attended media interviews and received an accreditation for their achievements from Dow and the GPCA.
“In line with our corporate citizenship commitment to the region, Dow is committed to support this program held in association with GPCA,” Fitterling said. “Talented students from key markets such as Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and United Arab Emirates were invited to attend, making this program truly regional and unique. We believe in investing in the youth of today to ensure the sustainable success and growth of the industry. The Dow Young Scientist program offers an experience beyond the classroom. It presents the real world of the petrochemical sector to what we would like to describe as leaders of tomorrow.”
