Dow Contributes to Missouri Flood Relief Establishes Employee Match Program
Support will include financial contributes to the American Red Cross and United Way
MIDLAND, MI - January 19, 2016 - The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE:DOW) today announced it is contributing to both short- and long-term relief efforts for flooding along the Mississippi River in Missouri. Dow is donating to the American Red Cross for immediate disaster assistance to help operate shelters, serve meals, distribute relief supplies and provide comfort items for those in need. In addition, Dow is providing funds to the United Way of Greater St. Louis to provide longer term support for housing and appliance repairs to return to safe, sanitary and secure conditions, ongoing counseling, behavioral health, and case management.
Through The Dow Chemical Company Foundation, a global employee matching grant program has also been established for Dow employees and contractors. The Foundation will match up to $10,000 for these contributions to the American Red Cross.
“Dow and its employees are committed to supporting the devastated areas of Missouri. By partnering with the American Red Cross and the United Way, we are able to come together to provide support to help rebuild the affected communities,” said Rob Vallentine, director of Dow Global Citizenship and president of The Dow Chemical Company Foundation. “Together, we hope to make a positive impact on the lives of the individuals and families who were affected by the flooding.”
Dow will contribute $15,000 and the additional employee match to the American Red Cross and will provide $10,000 to the United Way of Greater St. Louis.
Dow has operations at sites along the Mississippi River system, but none were significantly impacted by the flooding.
