Dow Attends China Package Technology Innovation
MIDLAND, Mich. - December 21, 2016 -
At the Seventh Annual China Package Technology Innovation and Sustainable Development Forum held in November 2016, Dow championed collaborative innovations for higher quality packaging and discussed the evolving role of packaging in the dynamic e-commerce market. The three-day forum was held in Ningbo, Zhejiang, and was attended by approximately 500 key industry stakeholders from packaging suppliers and brand owners, as well as packaging and sustainability experts. The event focused on future packaging innovation and sustainable packaging technology.
Global market trends including rapid population growth, rising middle class incomes and increased consumerism have driven the demands for high-performance flexible plastic packaging. China’s e-commerce research center revealed that in the first half of 2016 alone, China’s online retail market had grown to more than $2 trillion USD, and is expected to exceed $5 trillion annually in the near future. To capture business opportunities in this growing market, Dow has recently developed solutions specifically tailored to the demands of online shopping for both food products and logistics packaging.
During the forum, two different engagement sessions were held with brand owners and converters. Haley Lowry, global value chain marketing director, and Dr. Li Bin, Asia Pacific technical service and development (TS&D) manager for value chain at the conference, discussed Pack Studios’ unique role to facilitate packaging innovation and Dow’s commitment to e-commerce packaging. Separately in an exclusive forum for 15 brand owners, the team conducted a collaborative session on future packaging trends for e-commerce packaging with leading companies in the industry.
