Pet Adoption Event in Lake Jackson to Feature Famous Surf Machine for Dogs
Lake Jackson, Texas - August 15, 2016 -The recent floods that have impacted Brazoria County have left many pets homeless, creating an influx of animals at the SPCA of Brazoria County in need of a new home. To help these cats and dogs find families, Dow, Lucy Pet Products, and SPCA of Brazoria County have teamed up to host a pet adoption event Saturday, August 27, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at MacLean Park in Lake Jackson. Dow will cover the cost of all adoption fees. Lucy Pet Products will donate rabies vaccines for all adopted pets and will provide free bags of Cats Incredible Litter and Lucy Pet Dog shampoo and conditioner, along with valuable coupons for the newly adopted pet.
For added fun, Lucy Pet Products will bring its Gnarly Crank’n K-9 Wavemaker Float. As seen on national TV, your dog can catch a wave while riding a surf board and audition for the opportunity to ride the float in the 2017 Rose Parade.
“This adoption event is going to be one like none other held in our community,” said Dow Texas Operations community relations manager, Gabriella Cone. “We are thrilled to welcome The Lucy Pet Products to the Brazosport area as they partner with us to help the SPCA of Brazoria County find new homes for their shelter animals. Aside from the adorable cats and dogs up for adoption, the Wavemaker Float is sure to bring out a crowd!”
The Lucy Pet Products' Gnarly Crank’n K-9 Wave Maker consisting of a 75-foot long tractor-trailer filled with 5,000 gallons of water will also be making appearances in Houston, Chicago, and culminating at Gramercy Park in New York in September.
“Pet parents from around the country are literally begging us for a chance to test their dogs’ surfing skills for a spot on the 2017 Rose Parade float,” said Joey Herrick, founder of the Lucy Pet Foundation and Lucy Pet Products.
If selected, the family will receive an all-expense paid trip to Pasadena, CA for four nights. One person from the family will ride on the float and the other three will have seats in the VIP section to watch the parade.
“These surfing auditions are really a fun time,” added Herrick. “It’s great to see the smiles on the dogs, owners and spectators faces. We encourage everyone to come out and showcase those pooches with surfing talents. Who knows, they could be surfing on our Guinness Record setting float in the Rose Parade in Pasadena come January 2, 2017.
The event will be held at the MacLean Park Pavilion, located at 93 Lake Road in Lake Jackson, TX.
